Yeah, you can do whatever you want on trails....it doesn't matter if it's against the regulations, just as long as it's not enforced!
idiot.

Aloha David & Jana,
I love your website! I stumbled on it while desperately trying to find
the walking distance from The Bus stop at Sandy's Beach to Halona
Cove ("From Here to Eternity" beach). I never heard it referred to as
"Cockroach" Cove. (We have enough of those in Washington, DC!!)
Last year my friend & I (both seniors!) came to Hawaii for our chance
of a lifetime two-week vacation! Now, hard to believe, but we have
plans to come again on July 17! Next to Glass Beach, Kauai, since
I collect sea glass from the Chesapeake Bay area, Halona Cove was
the reason I came!! Just wanted to see it--ever since seeing the
movie when it first came out! Fortunately our tour bus stopped and
we got nice photos, but nothing to compare with yours, since I never
imagined it was safe for hiking around the blowhole! This year we'd
like to take The Bus and walk down to it! Can you tell me how far the
walk would be? Also is it possible to see a turtle from my safe spot
on the highway side! We are walkers, but not as adventurous as you!!
Mahalo and praise to you!!

I can't believe this I used to go here as a child I was searching for my favorite beach when I discovered a pic of this beach I knew it was cockroach cove even though it was listed as halona beach cove so i saved the pic then I searched the name halona beach and found this blog calling it cockroach cove. It was too cool since I dont have any pics at all to show my husband about the time I lived in Hawaii when I was 7 yrs old I remember like it was yesterday I thought of this place as one of the most exotic and beautiful places we discovered It is true this beach is locals only and it is much better for it!!
